Sand Valley Resort features five acclaimed golf courses. The Lido, the primary course for the 2026 U.S. Mid-Amateur and the 2029 U.S. Junior Amateur, is a private club that welcomes limited resort play. It is an exacting re-creation by Tom Doak and Brian Schneider, with the Renaissance Golf team, of the legendary links originally designed by inaugural U.S. Amateur champion Charles B. Macdonald on Long Island that opened for play in 1917. The new Lido course opened for play earlier this year. The original course on Long Island was repurposed by the U.S. Navy during World War II and closed in 1942. Doak and Schneider worked with golf historian and software designer Peter Flory, utilizing historical surveys, engineering records and photographs to guide the project.

Country Club of Charleston

Country Club of Charleston

Charleston, S.C. September 23-28, 2028

Historic Country Club of Charleston (S.C.), a classic Seth Raynor design, has been selected to host its third USGA championship, following the 2013 U.S. Women's Amateur and 2019 U.S. Women's Open. Emma Talley, a standout at the University of Alabama who represented the USA in the 2014 Curtis Cup Match, won the U.S. Women's Amateur, while Korean Jeuneung Lee6 claimed the U.S. Women's Open. History of golf in Charleston dates back to 1739, when a documented shipment of golf clubs arrived from Scotland. History begins for the C.C. of Charleston in 1786 -- just 32 years after the founding of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club in St. Andrews. Scottish merchants known as the Charlestown Golfing Society would meet on Harleston Green where a game called golf was played. The predecessor clubs to the Country Club of Charleston took shape in 1900, along the Cooper River, before then relocating down river to Belvidere Plantation the following year.  By 1922, the Club had acquired its present location on the McLeod Plantation consisting of 900 acres on the Ashley River. The land planning for the property was conducted by the Olmsted Bros. landscape designed firm, which recommended Seth Raynor to the club.

C.C. of Charleston annually hostes the Azalea Invitational, a premier amateur competition. The club also is home to Hall of Famers Beth Daniel and Henri Picard, the former a two-time U.S. Women's Amateur champion (1975 and 1977). The former Furman All-American also played on a pair of USA Curtis Cup Teams.
